Digital Awareness Series

Coming up in September, October and November are a timely series of talks dealing with topics relevant to Digital Awareness.
There will be 3 sessions starting a 7pm:

Session 1  – 15th October: ‘Tech in your home: how to create a tech plan for your home’ – Diana Henderson
Good decisions are never made from a place of fear, and yet as parents so many of the decisions we make around our children’s use of technology come from fear rather than empowerment. This workshop will give you a new perspective on tech and a personalized tech plan to take home and implement in your household.

Session 2  – 29th October:  ‘Empowering Your Child for the Future’ – Neville Stanway
We live in an age where there are so many ‘voices’ and so many ‘choices’. How do we equip our children to make the right decisions as they move forward in this day and age? With Social Media, Technology, Peer Pressure and Relationships all trying to influence our children, we need to empower them to navigate the future with confidence and certainty.

Session 3  – 12th November: ‘Sex Education in the Cyber-world’ – Dr Patricia Weerakoon

Children of today are the most digitally connected, socially informed, advertised and sexualised generation that ever walked this earth.  As parents you have to be informed and connected with your children if you want them to grow as whole sexually healthy human beings capable of making informed Biblical decisions about life. Ignorance is no longer an option. You are their primary sex educators. Patricia Weerakoon, a Christian sexologist and author will explore with you the challenges of parenting children in a super-sexualised cyber world where individualism and pluralism is worshiped and gender variance is the accepted norm.
